Balfolk with Jeroen Laureyssens and Nebel
For the next bal of Balhalla we welcome Nebel and Jeroen Laureyssens, who will without a doubt amaze us with a fantastic dance evening.
On Sunday the 16th of April you are welcome at the 'Paulus huis' in Gent (address: Patijntjestraat 27). This location is a 5 minute walk away from the Gent-Sint-Pieters station.
We start early at 15:00 with a dance initiation followed by a bal with Jeroen Laureyssens. At 18:00 there will be a potluck where everyone brings something to share and eat together. We provide sufficient drinks at the bar, but there are no provisions to heat up food or keep it cooled. After this, Nebel will play, and we will finish with a danceable jam. The evening will end at 22:30, which is a decent hour to still take a train home and ideal for those of us who have to get up early the next morning.
Balhalla is a group of friends that love balfolk dancing and who want to create more opportunities to do so in Ghent. With your presence, we hope to organize many more bals!

Jeroen Laureyssens solo: Diatonic accordion feat. Fx

Jeroen Laureyssens grew up in a musical family, so it was evident that music would become a big part of his life. During his teenage years, he discovered Western and Northern European folk music.
His passion for Nordic folk only grew. In spring 2021, he graduated from the Nordic Master in Folk Music program at the Danish National Academy of Music. For two years, he traveled and studied in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, where he learned about local music, traditions, styles, techniques and much more. With his co-students, they started the band GROV.
In his bal folk solo project Diatonic accordion feat. Fx, Jeroen creates a world of bal folk with a Noordse touch on a bed of loops and delays.
Nebel

Nebel is a balfolk trio consisting of Thomas Hoste (electro-acoustic alto hurdy-gurdy), Puck Duits (bagpipes, violin) and Joris Alblas (cittern).
They have a love for traditional tunes, from old manuscripts to contemporary melodies. Nebel's own sound is not only created by their instruments. They also put in effort to give the dances a fresh look.
Nebel originated from a project in which Belgian and Dutch musicians invite each other to play together at balls.
The name Nebel naturally refers to the two low countries, but perhaps also to the mist over the landscape in which the traditions are rooted.
Tickets
We have chosen to present you with a range of ticket options for our balls. Next to the standard ticket, we offer a student ticket at a discounted price after showing us your student card. We also offer a “support ticket” that helps our organization to organize more balls in the future and to give artists a fair compensation.
Next to the support ticket there is another way to support us: inform as many people as possible of this ball and try to convince them to join you to this amazing folk dance party.
The presale ends on . This allows us to receive all payments in a timely fashion.
It is also possible to buy tickets at the register, provided the event is not sold out during presale.
